Jaclyn Wright

(American, b. 1986; resides in Chicago, IL)

In her series Two Dimensional Shadow, Jaclyn Wright creates jumbled assemblages based on  digitized personal information that is scraped from websites and social media platforms as users interface with one another. Concerned with the lack of privacy among an increasingly technology infused society, Wright is particularly focused on how information is collected unbeknownst to consumers, and exploited by commercial and governmental agencies to predict purchasing patterns or future behaviors. Her geometric, pixelated, and often incongruous images suggest a dystopian future of beings known only by their technological trails.

Jaclyn Wright completed her BA from Southern Illinois University (2009) and her MFA from Indiana University (2013). She has been included in exhibitions nationally and internationally, such as at EspaiDos, Terrassa, Spain (2017), SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, GA (2016), David Weinberg Gallery, Chicago, IL (2014), and the Indiana University Art Museum, Bloomington, IN (2013).
