Michael Sinclair
(b. 1952; resides Kansas City, MO)
Initially an architectural photographer, Michael Sinclair has recently begun photographing middle-class America at play and rest in large-format prints. Using a straightforward approach, often combined with long exposures, Sinclair’s works take on a still quality brought out by light, color, and background. The intensity of the crowds in these works draws attention not only to the events but to the people themselves.
Sinclair has photographed architecture since 1984 but has only recently begun to document the leisure time of modern American society. A recipient of a Charlotte Street Fund grant, Sinclair has also exhibited at such galleries as the Society for Contemporary Photography.
