Fredrik Marsh

(b.1957; resides Columbus, OH)

While spending three months in Dresden, Germany on an artist’s grant, Fredrik Marsh became interested in the remains of the East German Communist-controlled industrial-military complex and its rebuilding and reconstruction. His photographs demonstrate the juxtapositions and ironies still abundant in the post-communist world, showing the old and the new as well as the grandeur and the decay of these once-majestic buildings.

Currently a professor at Otterbein College in Ohio, Marsh attended Ohio State University (BFA, 1980 and MFA, 1984). His most recent exhibitions include shows at Texas Tech University and Middle Tennessee State University. In addition, his work is held in several permanent collections, including the Library of Congress; the Kupferstich-Kabinett Museum in Dresden, Germany; and the Columbus Museum of Art.
