One of Them Is a Human is a conceptual work that presents four photographic portraits: three picturing androids (human-looking robots) and one actual human. Photographed in the exact same way, the viewer is left to impossibly decipher which being is not robotic—an eerie foreshadowing of the ways the real and artificial are likely to blend further into our daily lives. Maija Tammi’s work has been exhibited worldwide, and she has published three books Leftover/Removals (Kehrer Verlag, 2014), White Rabbit Fever (Bromide Books, 2017) and Sick Photography (Aalto Arts Books, 2017). This work will be featured in the upcoming MoCP exhibition, In Real Life, from January 16 – March 22, 2020.
