About the Photographer

Clay, Langdon

American, b. 1949

Langdon Clay was born in New York City and grew up in New England. He started his career as an art photographer, often focusing on street photography, such as his 1979 series of color panoramas of Time Square at the height of its seediness. Clay later turned to editorial projects for architecture and design magazines and commercial work, photographing architecture, interiors, and food. He has also published a number of books that deal with subjects such as the city of New Orleans, Colonial Williamsburg, and Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate, Monticello.
