Camera Work
In 1902, Alfred Stieglitz founded Camera Work, a quarterly publication of photogravures that was printed and distributed until 1917.
Camera Work became the public image of the Photo-Secessionists as well as the first outlet for new European art in the United States. Stieglitz had a critical understanding of the various printing techniques used to reproduce photographs. Through this endeavor, he became the first to outline a standardized mode of publishing art photographs and exhibiting them in a gallery setting.
